The exhibition title was taken from posters I had done for the Wild Clay Research Project at Montana State University that same year. I exhibited my first cast porcelain letters writing the statement “STOP LISTENING TO HUMANS.” The work stands out as the only text piece, and along with the title give a good sense of how I like to use language and text as image.
I recently came across this image of the show on Instagram and had almost forgotten the piece, but it is very relevant for a book that I am currently designing with Qatari artist Fatma Al-Remaihi. I love it when the ideas and themes come back in fresh ways years later in totally new contexts.
