Objects in Time

SUR+SPA RESEARCH / Spring 25

Nathan Ross Davis + Mayssaa Al Mumin
Ayatalla Mohamed + Karmina Asaad

Inspired by Sara Walker’s Assembly Theory and the speculative imagination of Kurt Vonnegut and Philip K. Dick, this project asked students to visualize objects as compressed timelines. Beginning with short video clips of simple motions, frames were traced, laser cut, and assembled into layered sculptural forms. The results captured multiple moments at once, transforming sequences in time into physical objects that embody both scientific theory and science-fiction speculation.
